Carl Shackleton

Carl Shackleton's musical journey began at The Roland Hayes Performing Arts School in Boston, Massachusetts. This specialized annex of Madison Park High School nurtured talented and gifted students, providing them with an environment to learn and explore their artistic passions. For Carl, music was second nature—composition, piano, vocal arrangement, bass, and guitar all seemed to flow effortlessly. His ability to sight-read music developed soon after, enhancing his natural talents. His guitar teacher, a Berklee College Of Music alumnus, overheard him playing one of his original compositions. Impressed by his skill and unique melody, his teacher invited him to record the song at Berklee's Studio A for Carl to dive deeper into the world of production.

Shortly thereafter, at just 15 years old, Carl was signed by legendary music mogul Maurice Starr as a songwriter and producer. This early opportunity led him to collaborate with major artists. Following the conclusion of his contract, Carl took the leap to establish his own production company. Under his leadership, he began to develop, nurture, and produce a multitude of emerging artists. His portfolio expanded rapidly, with Carl contributing to the careers of prominent names such as Blu Cantrell, Priscilla Renea (now known as Muni Long), Lil Mama, Brandy, Usher, DJ Khaled, Gucci Mane, Rhonda Smith, and even the legendary Prince. His work also extended into the gospel realm, collaborating with icons like Fred Hammond. In addition to producing hit records, Carl expanded his expertise into scoring for films. One of his most notable accomplishments was scoring the soundtrack for "Death of the Dynasty," the final film by Jay Z and Dame Dash. His work has also been featured in television movies on major networks such as BET and TV One, showcasing his versatility across various media platforms.

In 2024, Carl Shackleton’s record label, Ubuntu Entertainment, has been highly active, releasing four albums and multiple singles—all composed and produced by Carl himself. His label is a testament to his relentless work ethic and commitment to producing high-quality, impactful music. As Carl continues to evolve, his contributions to both the music industry and the wider artistic community remain unmatched, and his legacy continues to inspire the next generation of artists and producers.
